Microchipping

Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pet’s fur.

At Northampton Veterinary Clinic, we are happy to offer microchipping. Every year, thousands and thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often.

But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pet’s fur. It is a painless and relatively fast procedure, and is completely safe.

This microchip is registered with your pet’s vital information, and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you.

Save yourself the heartache and stress of a lost pet. Microchips bring pets home.

A heart-warming story about why every pet should have a microchip: We recently had a cat come into our clinic that a good samaritan had found outside. Luckily, this sweet cat had a microchip! After getting Animal Control involved, we came to find that the microchip’s registration was recently updated. The normally inside only therapy cat had gotten out a year prior after wiggling out of his travel carrier. They did everything they could to find him by using all resources available, but he could not be found.

Unfortunately, the owner had plans to move out of state before the cat went missing. Luckily, a family member flew to Northampton to pick up the cat, and drove all the way West to reunite him with his overjoyed owner! Without a registered microchip, we would have never known the cat had an owner waiting for him (hundreds of miles away)! Please contact Animal Control if you see a stray animal and always microchip your pets.
