Humane Euthanasia

Making the decision to end the life of your special companion is incredibly difficult.

The entire Northampton Veterinary Clinic staff strives to ensure this gift occurs with the privacy, comfort, and compassion that both you and your companion deserves.

Upon arrival, our client care specialists will immediately guide your family and companion into our private comfort room that will be arranged for your family’s comfort. A veterinary assistant and veterinarian will discuss the process and answer any questions you may have. Our goal is promote a peaceful and comfortable setting. If at any time your family has any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to discuss them. Every euthanasia is tailored to your pet’s comfort. Injectable sedatives and intravenous catheters are considered by the veterinarians if appropriate. The euthanasia process is very peaceful and rapid. An injection of euthanasia medication is administered in a vein. Again, this medication aids in a peaceful and rapid passing. The veterinarian will inform you once your pet has passed.

After, you may spend as much time in our comfort room as needed. When you are ready, we will assist you to our parking lot, through our private entrance. We typically send a personalized ink paw print to you once dried.

We can schedule a euthanasia at your convenience, but please call us to discuss.

Once your companion has passed, there are multiple options available. We work closely with Final Gift Cremation Services. They offer both private cremation and communal cremation. If you choose private cremation, your pets’ cremated remains will be returned in a beautiful rosewood urn. There are several other urn options as well as additional memorial products. To view these options please click on the Final Gift link below and select “Memorial Products”. For a communal cremation, your pets’ cremated remains will be spread at Angel View Pet Cemetary in Middleboro Ma. You are always welcome to visit this cemetery if you choose.

Some pet parents would like to be present with their companion during the cremation process. If you would like to do this you can call Final Gift directly to arrange this option. Please see the link below for more information.
